SOA Associates

Taking a Brixton-based accounting firm from a blank slate to a cohesive visual identity via branding, logo design, website design and build.

Overview

The brief from SOA Associates was to create both a visual identity and a website from scratch. The client wanted something that reflected the level of quality and consideration they put into their work.

Working alongside the project manager and content team at PracticeWeb, I designed the new logo and visual identity as well as designing and building SOA Associates' new website.

Logo design

During our brand discovery call with the client, I was able to learn a lot about what makes SOA Associates unique and how the firm brings value to its customers. There was a clear focus on offering a quality, traditional service while being patient and considered.

Having collated and curated the information gathered from the discovery call I began to explore possible options for the brand.

My process started by sketching logo ideas then highlighting a chosen few to further develop digitally.

The final logo concept is an abstract monogram that uses the shape of an hourglass to represent the company's thoughtful and considered approach.

I then developed a wider visual identity. A colour palette of soft navy, off-white and gold was chosen for a polished and prestigious look, while a serif typeface was selected to balance tradition with personality.

Web design - UI/UX

Having discussed preferences for the website with the client, I carefully mapped out the UX and user journey using Figma. This enabled me to visualise the site structure and then basic paper wireframing helped to plan the layout, content and flow of the pages across the site.

Using the site map and visual identity, I then built SOA Associates' website using Wordpress and Divi. I decided to incorporate abstract sections of the brand mark as a background motif to reinforce brand identity and create consistency. The photography style I selected for the website focuses on people in high quality, minimalist surroundings.

SOA Associates were delighted with the new logo, brand identity and website, receiving great feedback from their clients and staff members.
